How does BuddySit work?
BuddySit is a community pet sitting exchange. You sit for a neighbor's pet and earn credits. When your own pet needs care, you spend those credits to book a sitter. It's a mutual-aid model — neighbors helping neighbors — rather than a cash marketplace.
Is BuddySit free?
It's free to join and you receive 10 welcome credits on signup. Credits are the only currency on the platform — you earn them by sitting for others or purchase them in the app if you need care before you've had a chance to sit. There are no subscription fees.
What pets does BuddySit support?
BuddySit supports all common and exotic pets: dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, horses, and other exotic animals. Each sitter specifies which species they're comfortable caring for, so you can filter for exactly the right match.
How do I find a pet sitter near me?
After creating a free account, browse sitters in your area by location, species accepted, home type (house with yard, apartment, etc.), experience, and reviews. Send a booking request and the sitter has 48 hours to respond.
Is BuddySit safe?
Every booking requires both the pet owner and sitter to sign a digital Pet Sitting Agreement before the sit begins. Credits are held in escrow and only released to the sitter once the booking is marked complete. All members have public review histories, and the platform includes dispute resolution.
How is BuddySit different from Rover or Wag?
Rover and Wag are cash-based gig marketplaces with professional sitters. BuddySit is a community credit exchange where everyday pet owners help each other. There are no cash payments between members — only credits. This makes care more affordable and builds genuine neighborhood trust.
Can I earn credits without paying?
Yes. The primary way to earn credits is by completing pet sitting bookings as a sitter. You also receive 10 free welcome credits when you sign up and complete your profile.
What happens if something goes wrong with a booking?
Either party can file a dispute within 7 days of the booking end date. BuddySit reviews disputes and makes a good-faith determination on credit allocation. The signed Pet Sitting Agreement also provides a legal record for each party.
